How Do I Find Wisdom in a Noisy World? Why Proverbs is the Ultimate Guide to Life

Hello friend,

If you’re anything like me, the internet is a great place to find advice, ideas, and encouragement. But let’s be real; it can also be incredibly overwhelming to sift through. Finding sound, practical advice that is actually helpful is hard, especially when it comes to navigating our faith and learning how to live life as a Christian. So much of the content out there can seem helpful on the surface, but at its root, it is often driven by pride, selfishness, or greed, which are all things that point us back to "self" instead of pointing us to God.

That’s why I recently took a deep dive into the book of Proverbs, and boy, did I walk away with so much more than I was expecting. It truly felt like God was giving me a personalized "guide to life." (And I’m so glad He did, because isn't that what the Bible is meant to be?) To help me navigate it, I walked through the text with a companion commentary called Proverbs: The People’s Bible. It provides such helpful, verse-by-verse context. I found it incredibly grounding because, as full of wisdom as King Solomon was, his knowledge can sometimes feel like it goes right over my head! I really needed help breaking it down and understanding it within the context of God’s will and design for our lives (including mine).

I’m not even going to lie: I walked away from this study feeling like I had just read the secret to life. It is hands-down the best guide you can find. It is so much better than any 2-minute "5 ways I integrate God’s Word into my life" reel you might scroll past on Instagram. Don’t get me wrong, I love videos like that! But they just can’t replace the Bible itself and the direct way God speaks to us through His Word.

The Layout of Wisdom

I absolutely love how the book of Proverbs is set up. It opens by defining what wisdom actually is and explaining why we should want it in the first place. Then, it gives us a simple, foundational key on how to grow in it:“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” — Proverbs 9:10 If we want Godly wisdom, then I guess we should make sure we appropriately fear the Lord, huh? After that introduction, we dive straight into the Proverbs of Solomon. It’s amazing to realize we are reading wisdom directly from the wisest man who ever lived. But because these chapters are written as short, punchy observations, they can sometimes read like riddles. That’s exactly where a companion study or a community group becomes so valuable; it gives us the space to unpack the context and figure out how to apply these wise words to our actual, daily lives.

Let’s Study This Together!

By the time I finished going through this book, the margins of my Bible were basically black. There is so much packed into these pages that I feel like you could study it for a lifetime and still find new insights. But why not try to capture as much of it as we can? That is exactly why I am launching a brand-new study: A Study of Proverbs: The Pursuit of Wisdom! This will be a 12-week journey through the book of Proverbs, and the best part is that it is designed to fit your life. It is completely flexible, meaning you can join whenever it works for you! If you have a busy week and can't make it, just jump right back in the next week. We would absolutely love to have you whenever your schedule allows.

Honestly, twelve weeks of gathering together won’t even scratch the surface of what we could learn from this book. But I am so excited to meet more of you, talk about God's Word, and dig into His truths together. There is nothing more valuable than learning more about Him in community.

Stepping Out of the Scroll

We live in a world where we are constantly scrolling through an endless stream of five-step guides, aesthetic routines, and quick-fix advice. And while a lot of that content is fun to watch, at the end of the day, it's just more noise adding to an already oversaturated feed. It leaves us with a head full of temporary "self-help" hacks but a heart that is still totally starving for direction.

We don't need another two-minute clip pointing us inward to "self." We need the timeless, steady, life-giving truth of God's Word. Walking through Proverbs isn't about finding a quick formula to make our lives look perfect on the outside; it’s about slow, intentional, daily discipleship. It’s about logging off the noise of the internet for a little bit, opening our Bibles, and letting the Creator of the universe align our hearts with His purpose.

So, let's step out of the scroll and study this together!

Join us! You can find all the details, dates, and updates on our Instagram account: @intotheworld_biblestudy. We’ll be posting the meeting links and continuing our discussions there throughout the study.
